hello!

samia menon

I’m Samia - a first-year PhD student in Computer Science @ UC Berkeley, co-advised by Bjoern Hartmann and Marti Hearst. I am interested in the ways technology can be used to support and understand community dynamics, novel forms of communication, and our broader physical environment. I am grateful to have been awarded an NSF CSGrad4US Fellowship as well as Berkeley’s Chancellor’s Fellowship to support my research.

Previously, I was a SWE @ Squarespace and conducted research at the Computational Design Lab @ Columbia University. In my free time, I am also interested in ecology, illustration, archaeology and data visualization.
